Changes to SAT


Changes to the SAT are coming in March 2016, but until that point the test will remain the same. What this means, though, is a more competitive playing ground for all students so preparation will beome even more important!

Here are a summary of the changes that will occur in March 2016:

 SAT IN MARCH 2016


KEY CHANGES
  • Exam will be based on a 400-1600 scale  
Math &  "Evidence-based" Reading/Writing
  • No .25 deduction for wrong answers
  • Test length will be 3 hours instead of 4 hours 
  • Test will be available in digital or paper form
MATH SECTION


READING SECTION
  • Limited use of calculator
  • Fewer sections on test

  • More common vocabulary words, less archaic vocabulary
  • Reading questions will be interpretative
    • Involve use of historical documents and graphs
ESSAY
  • Essay will be optional  with 50 minutes to complete 
    • Essay will be based on analysis not opinion
